Position description

We run one of the largest genome centers in the country and with that comes the necessity to maintain the quality of our testing. We are looking to hire a Data Analyst to join our growing Data Science team within Late Stage R&D.

What you'll do

  • Develop reports for Operations and Science groups using business intelligence tools
  • Analyze and report on analytical quality measures
  • Perform root cause analysis on trending lab quality metrics
  • Assist in the design of experiments and analysis of data for projects aimed at improving lab operations
  • Field ad hoc requests for data analytics from various functions including commercial and finance

About you

  • Proficient in SQL (preferably postgresql)
  • Proficient in Python (prefered) or R
  • Experience using Looker for business analytics
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to draw conclusions based on data
  • BS in biophysics, genetics, applied math, statistics, computer science, or similar fields
  • Willing to learn Next Gen Sequencing (NGS) process control
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while juggling multiple projects
  • Good interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and passionate

Preferred skills

  • 2-5 years of experience in performing lab analytics within the biotech industry
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for data analysis (R, Matlab, SAS). You understand power analysis and design experiments with appropriate controls
  • Experience troubleshooting molecular biology techniques strongly preferred
  • Experience with shell scripting
  • Familiarity with git for version control
  • Experience working in quality control
