Position description

As a Counsyl’s Director of Supply Chain Management, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our centralized purchasing department. You will also be responsible for planning, procurement, warehouse operations, logistics, and kit fulfillment. Reporting to our SVP of Operations, you will be a crucial member of our team as you streamline and scale supply chain processes strategically and efficiently as we continue to grow.

What you'll do

  • Build a lean, high-performing purchasing and supply chain team, consisting of the planning, logistics, procurement, fulfillment, and warehouse departments of our organization
  • Develop the systems, processes and metrics required to support all f Counsyl's cross functional teams and business partners
  • Streamline Supplier Management by driving strong KPIs.
  • Lead the strategic sourcing effort by driving material cost reduction and developing alternate suppliers for key components of raw materials
  • Review and process all requisitions for materials which are on standing contracts with vendors
  • Implement category and supplier management best practices to extract optimal value from suppliers and reduce scale-up risk
  • Develop processes for supply and capacity planning
  • Implement inventory management continuous improvement, and develop a culture of continuous improvement
  • Implement Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, and other Operational Excellence methodology
  • Process requisitions for vendor equipment repairs and small construction repair services and maintenance
  • Review orders for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing policies and procedures
  • Organize, update, and retain product information files and purchase order records
  • Obtain appropriate office and scientific supplies in a timely manner
  • Draft and submit purchase orders with vendors
  • Own relationships with vendors
  • Streamline purchasing process

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, or Life Sciences; MBA, a plus
  • 10+ years of experience managing supply chain functions, REQUIRED
  • Experience with Supply Chain in biotech or the healthcare industry, REQUIRED
  • Supply Chain experience at a start-up, and sustaining a mature SCM, preferred
  • Experience in a management/supervisory role
  • Knowledgeable with Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, and/or other Operational Excellence methodology
  • Strong cross-functional team player
  • Working knowledge of common business practices relating to supply chain management
  • Understanding of the principles and practices of centralized purchasing, a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, required
  • A go-getter who sees something needs to be done and goes and does it
  • APICS, Six Sigma, and ICM certification is preferred
