Position description

We’re looking for a leader with deep technical operations background and experience managing high-performance teams in a regulated environment.  You’ll report directly to the VP of IT and work closely with stakeholders across the entire organization.

We have a multifaceted and growing IT system, including high-performance computing, lab/automation equipment, corporate IT, and transactional web applications that are run on both managed and hosted infrastructure.

You’ll be the face of the technical organization for concerns related to network, infrastructure (think AWS and VMWare), high-performance computing (HPC), and operational excellence.

What you'll do

  • Lead the design and development of the compute infrastructure for the company including high-performance computing environments, and public/private cloud environments
  • Manage a high-performance technical and IT Operations team; you will oversee our Systems Administrators and grow the team
  • Oversee the production compute environment which controls laboratory automation and be responsible for meeting uptime and performance requirements
  • Manage budgets and drive decisions regarding what to build vs. buy
  • Implement policies and procedures related to network, hardware and software standards
  • Maintain HIPAA and PCI Compliant systems and processes
  • Develop and oversee delivery of projects and strategies with multiple teams to support one of the most advanced genetic labs in the world

About you

  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Sciences or equivalent related experience
  • At least 12 years experience leading systems administration teams
  • Experience in deploying and operating high-performance compute environments including monitoring, workload management, task automation, reliability, stability, performance, usability, and security
  • Experience in architecting and operating AWS or similar cloud environments including optimizing cost/performance
  • Lead teams of 5 or more engineers/administrators
  • Experience leading technical projects and working with product engineering teams
  • Understanding of process and systems change controls in a regulated environment
  • Experience with automating compute environments including logging, monitoring and alerting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Networking proficiency a plus
